Growing up in the Air Force, John was exposed to missions throughout his childhood & teenage years, and took his first mission trip during college. Brandi grew up as a Missionary Kid from South America (she is the daughter of Assemblies of God missionaries Bob & Jennifer Frith in Uruguay).
John sensed a call throughout his teenage years in various countries and church environments, and accepted the call at the age of 17 in his home. Brandi sensed her call to missions as a child.
