We will be joining the Children At Risk team, which exists to care for, minister to, and share the Gospel with children who have been orphaned, abandoned, neglected, abused, homeless, come from broken homes, or simply live an unsafe community that puts them at risk to emotional, mental, or physical harm. We will also work to train, equip, and send out other believers to work with children at risk in both Cape Town and other locations.

First Mission

Amanda: My first missions experience was in 9th grade when I went on a short-term mission trip with my youth group. I was from a non-Christian home and had come to faith in Jesus just 3 years prior through this same youth group. Experiencing God in another culture and serving those around me deeply impacted me! Sam: I grew up going on several mission trips with my parents and through my home church, mainly to work with YWAM in the Dominican Republic.

Becoming a Missionary

Amanda: I knew I was called to missions after I did a 3-month mission trip throughout 7 countries in southern Africa with OM (Operation Mobilization) in 2012. Ever since, I have received several prophetic words confirming this calling, and it has been a burning passion within me to minister to those here in the US and abroad. Sam: From a young age I have felt called to missions. Whether it was working with the at-risk kids ministries my mother started in Minneapolis or going on trips to the Dominican Republic, I knew my calling was to missions. The main confirmation I remember was when I was in a tent city in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 2011 working with a YWAM team. God met me there and confirmed my calling to international missions. Since then, He has been giving me more and more of His heart for the nations.
