Grieving the death of someone close to you? We know it hurts, and we want to help. Find comfort and support at Grief Share. This 13-week grief recovery seminar and support group is a video seminar series that features Christian experts on grief and recovery topics as seen from a Biblical perspective. The video seminars are combined with support group discussion of the materials presented. You may hear us say the phrase “Our Heart is Global” often throughout your time at River Valley, but what does it really mean? In Explore, we walk through the great commission that Jesus gave to his followers before He left this earth. Our mandate is to make disciples from every part of the world. Each and every one of us has a part to play in that, whether it is to pray, to mobilize others, to send or to go! This group is for everyone to discover how God wants to use them to accomplish His great commission. Our group will meet weekly for 8 weeks on Wednesdays July 17 thru September 4, 6:30-7:30pm. Location TBD (may vary from at the campus to an outside location).

Empower | City Campus | Fall 2024

There is nothing more exciting than living a Spirit-filled, empowered life! This group will instruct, encourage, and inspire you to walk in all that Jesus has made available to you through the infilling of the Holy Spirit and the gifts that He imparts. You will also learn in detail about each of the nine gifts of the Spirit and how they are used throughout the Bible as well as in our own lives. Finally, you will have the opportunity to deepen your relationship with the Lord through the lessons on prayer and intercession. Our group will meet weekly at our campus on Wednesdays September 11 thru Novemger 6, 6:30-8pm. Doors open and check-in will be available beginning at 6pm.

God is for healthy marriages. A strong marriage with God at the center creates a firm foundation for a family. This is a 10 week course covering 10 of the most common talking points in marriage. We welcome anyone who is seriously dating, engaged, newly married, or married for decades. We will spend 10 weeks (may not be consecutive) covering topics from kids to money to parenting, etc. There will be a video teaching on each topic and book that holds all the tools for discussion throughout the week. You don't have to be in a "rough" season to work on your marriage, Not only is the content enlightening but building community with others with the same goals in marriage is invaluable. NOTE: The Shepps have 4 kids under 10 and anticipate other families with younger kids. We will discuss possible group childcare options as the date gets closer.

The vision of this small group is to foster an in-depth study of the Gospel of Luke utilizing higher and lower criticisms. The heart of the group is to equip its members in biblical hermeneutics so that they can read the Scripture in proper context. The small group will touch on the synoptic tradition, the historical backdrop of the land of Israel in the first century, and the cultural and spiritual worldview of Second Temple Judaism. The group will read through the chapters of the gospel, selecting the most important section of each chapter. The group will also read the gospel text synoptically, involving similar pericopes from Matthew and Mark to enhance our understanding of the synoptic tradition. At the very heart of it, my hope is that we all become better students of the word and of Christ through this group.
