Finding Your Purpose

Minnetrista

Saturday at 8:30 AM

Who is this group for? Anyone who wants to understand how to utilize the talents, skills, personality, and circle of influence God gave them for His kingdom. Whether you work in the business world as a senior leader, a retail associate, are just starting out as an intern, or are a student planning to work in an entrepreneurial way or another business capacity some day, this study will use a storytelling style with discussion to help us each consider new ways God wants us to live more purposely. We can learn about ourselves by understanding what God is speaking to others in community ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ What is this group about? This small group seeks to answer the questions you have about how you can live on mission for God in your workplace. We'll explore questions like: - What biases/ divisions do we hold between clergy and laity, our roles as kings and priests, and our call to ministry as believers? - How are we called to operate primarily outside the meeting place? - Is money good or evil? What does scripture say about making money, riches, and prosperity? - What are our own misconceptions of giving? - Vocations and values: how can we find fulfillment in our jobs today? What values were passed down to us from generations? - What does it mean to live simply? How are we called to frugality and how can we practice this? - How can we live more boldly on mission for God through our vocations? ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ The book "The Legend of the Monk and the Merchant" is an easy, approachable way to start the conversation and create ideas for including God in your every day. Though not everyone may be called to work in the church, the "marketplace" can also be seen as a mission field, with the opportunity to serve God and others around you. This course will help you see, understand, and apply your purpose to your daily life. This book is promoted by Dave Ramsey. Versions of the book are available at Amazon, Ramsey, Christianbook.com, etc. in either print or electronic style. Where will we meet? We'll meet for 1 hour in the gathering room at Blackwater Cafe (serving breakfast and coffees), which is just off Hwy 12 in Maple Plain. Kids are welcome if they can sit quietly for an hour, engaging in their own activity. Speaking as a busy mom :)
