On, February 19, 2024, River Valley Church came together to show appreciation for our first responders at the Burnsville Police Station. The staff arrived early to deliver 100 breakfast sandwiches, a variety of snacks, fresh coffee and thoughtfully assembled gift baskets for all police and fire personnel. Generosity is one of River Valley’s seven values, and we are dedicated to giving back to those who tirelessly serve our community.

In addition to the breakfast and gifts, our Apple Valley Campus attendees raised $5,890 for The LELS Police Benevolent Fund, Inc. This response was especially memorable following the tragic events on February 18, when three Burnsville first responders lost their lives in a shooting in Burnsville.

As we reflect on this support, we are reminded of Romans 12:9-13:

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”

A Continued Commitment

The following evening, February 20, Purpose Driven Restaurants and Brian Ingram, a River Valley Eagan Campus attendee and the owner of Hope Breakfast Bar, provided meals for families and local law enforcement. This generous act opened the door for six pastors, including those from River Valley, to pray with attendees and distribute over 40 Bibles.

Jason Wagge, a River Valley staff member and veteran police officer with 15 years of service, shared his heartfelt gratitude, “I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has helped in this response! You truly have shown God’s love to these first responders. This means a lot to me. So, thank you all!!!”

Blessed to be a Blessing

In times like these, we are reminded of the strength of our community and the love we can extend to one another. Together, we can make a meaningful impact, showing our first responders that they are valued and appreciated. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important effort—you are truly making a difference. We are blessed to be a blessing!
