Alpha is a Core Group at River Valley. Alpha is a series of sessions over 11 weeks that explores the Christian faith (Tuesdays, Sept 12-Nov 21). It answers questions like: Who is Jesus?, How do I read the Bible?, and Does God heal today? The format is simple: We share a meal around a table, listen to a talk on the week’s topic, and then have discussion together to learn more. For this season, free childcare will be offered with limited capacities on a first come, first serve basis. Registration will be required for each child individually which will secure a spot in childcare for the whole Alpha session. Please register your child[ren] individually here: https://rivervalley.org/event/childcare-crosstown-4972/

We are starting a new adult small group and looking for couples and singles (multi-generational) that are wanting to find community, grow deeper in their faith, and just do life together. We will be studying the book of Philippians and will meet on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Our first meeting will be a time to get to know each other with a short intro into the book of Philippians. We'd love to have you join us!
Wednesday at 6:00 AM
We will meet in person on Wednesday mornings from 6:00-7:30am. Each week we'll study the scriptures to grow deeper in our faith as well as encourage one another through prayer and fellowship. We meet at the Chanhassen Lunds & Byerly's Caribou Coffee.
Wednesday at 6:30 PM
We are called to love our neighbor. In our current culture, however, many topics are leading us to disagreement and separation rather than love. Discussions about race, diversity, and justice feel increasingly volatile and divisive. Rather than looking to politics, pop culture, or social media, we must look to the Word of God as our source of truth. We must find a common ground to bridge the growing divide and bring healing to relationships in our churches, families, and communities. In this group we will seek Christ, learn with an open mind, and build unity through Bible study and listening to the experience of others. In doing so, we will find our common ground in Christ and learn to love our neighbor. We will be meeting on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30PM starting April 12 through May 31. Attendance each week is highly encouraged/required.
Sunday at 6:30 PM
This small group (led by Gayle Cousins - assisted by Kim Kissner-Admin) is for all men and women, for the purpose of learning about, and engaging in, intercessory prayer in a corporate setting. This is for anyone interested in this type of prayer whether you have had very little experience or a lot!! We will all learn from the Holy Spirit, and from one another, as to how to "pray in" the Kingdom of God, and to pray what is on God’s heart! There will be a short teaching at the beginning of each session and the rest of the session will be engaging in prayer. We would love to see you there!! We will normally meet on the 4th Sunday evening each month, from 6:30 - 8:00 pm - Feb 12, March 26, April 23, May 28, June 25, July 23, Aug 27, Sept 24, Oct 22 & Nov 26. We are very flexible on the capacity/number attending believing for interest and growth during this year of "Taking Ground!" Prayer is the foundation for the Church, for healthy growth, strength and unity, and for future revival!!

Explore is a Core Group designed to inspire and enlarge your global heart as we study the biblical basis of missions and hear from some of our great missionaries. At River Valley, our heart is global because God’s heart is global. That’s why we believe that every follower of Jesus Christ should explore and know their role within God’s Great Commission (Mondays, Sept 25-Nov 13). For this season, free childcare will be offered with limited capacities on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration will be required for each child individually which will secure a spot in childcare for the whole Explore session. Please register your child[ren] individually here: https://rivervalley.org/event/childcare-crosstown-4983/

What makes your life feel purposeful and meaningful? What consumes your thoughts? What do you run to for comfort or relief from stress? What demands your time? What are your plans, agendas, strategies and intentions designed to accomplish? Idolatry is a major theme of the Bible, mentioned 254 times! Because we think of idolatry as an ancient way of worshiping gods, we tend to miss the idols in our modern lives. An idol is anything that becomes more important to us than God. Things like identity, money, status, security, approval, appearance, entertainment, health, comfort, phones/technology, family/kids and influence can become idols in our lives. In this study, you will learn potential idols in your life and how to turn from them. We will meet outside on the patio on 7 Tuesdays nights (May 30, June 13 & 27, July 11 & 25, August 15 & 29) from 6:30-8:30pm to discuss the book, "More Than Anything: Loving God Above Everything Else" from The Daily Grace Co. Everyone will receive a copy of the book on the first night and should come ready to discuss a 3-page lesson each of the following meetings. We will memorize a verse and share prayer requests each meeting. Hope you can join us this summer!
Friday at 6:30 AM
Come together as men Friday mornings from 6:30 to 7:30 AM. As iron sharpens iron, we sharpen each other through studying the Bible and discussing how we apply it to our lives today. We'll be running through Paul's journeys in Acts and reading through his letters chronologically. Just bring a Bible!
Monday at 6:30 PM
Looking forward to having fellowship with women who are looking for a community to dig into God’s word. Summary: Woven throughout the Gospel according to Luke is that perfection is not a prerequisite for a deep and personal relationship with Jesus. In fact, this riveting account reveals that Jesus is especially fond of ragamuffins in need of a safe place to lean in and linger! Join Lisa Harper in this Bible study of a literary masterpiece that doesn’t celebrate the elite, but embraces the outliers, outcasts, and overlooked! Study guide to be purchased at first meeting. Approximately $15-$20 depending on size of group.
Wednesday at 6:45 PM
This will be an 16-week study of the Gospel of Matthew in two parts. Precept is an inductive in-depth Bible study method including self-study and weekly group discussion. It is a global ministry based out of Chattanooga, TN and founded by Jack and Kay Arthur in 1970. Matthew is the first of the four gospels, originally directed to a Jewish Christian audience. Participants should purchase their own workbooks directly from the Precept website at precept.org/Shop/By book of the Bible/New Testament/Matthew/Precept Upon Precept or In-and-Out/ESV or NASB Workbook/Part 1. You can choose either the Precept Upon Precept study requiring about 5 hours of private study time per week ($15.75) or the In-and-Out method requiring about 2.5 hours per week ($12.25). Allow 7-10 days for workbook delivery. Our first meeting on 2/15 will just be group member introductions and a review of the Precept study method. Our first real lesson will be on 2/22.

We are starting a men’s only (for now) small group in which we’ll be getting together on Sunday nights at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, for open gym basketball. All skill levels are welcome and the gym will be reserved for this RV group, specifically. Get in the gym and enjoy some fellowship and fun runs up and down the court for a few hours, followed by group prayer. Competition is great, especially in an encouraging environment, surrounded by men who love Jesus. Let’s form some authentic friendships while collectively missing plenty of shots and turning the ball over dozens of times. Please wear outdoor shoes until you enter the gym, in which then you can switch into your gym/basketball shoes. The cost is $5/person (each time) and their staff prefers cash, if possible.
Wednesday at 6:30 PM
Two of us mature women, myself and Beverly Johnson, would like to gather 10-12 younger women to discuss mentoring. We'll use the book 4 Ways to Leave a Spiritual Legacy by Dr. Michael Youssef, a study on II Timothy. The group will last for 5 weeks, ending with a potluck.
Monday at 6:30 PM
This group is for women of all ages, who are desiring to dive deeper into God’s word together. Each week we will be reading and discussing one chapter of the book of Philippians. We will also spend time in prayer and building community! Please join us!
Saturday at 9:00 AM
You are welcome here! This is a "join at anytime" men's group. If you are looking for a deeper connection with God, this group is for you. God desires that we overcome being ruled by our thoughts and feelings, which are highly influenced by our circumstances — family, work, health, or temptation. 2 Peter 1:3–4 tells us that we can actually do this! It comes from learning to respond to God's promises in His Word and through prayer. This is the purpose of The Promise Principle Men's Small Groups. Whether you’re still exploring faith in Christ, or you have been a Christian for many years, you’ll experience what we believe Jesus meant when He called His disciples to change the world by discovering and responding to His promises, truths, and commands. Click here to read more about The Promise Principle and see our weekly reading plan: http://leaders.rivervalley.org/promise
Serving opportunities will be shared with this group and participants can participate as it works with their schedule and/or interest. No set meeting times or commitments. Emails will be sent out as opportunities become available. Let's radically serve and love our community so that more people will come to know Jesus.
